This comprehensive renovation of living area and kitchen has been a beautiful transformation of a post cyclone Tracey “brick bunker” Darwin home. It now enables the owners to really enjoy tropical living, seamlessly blending indoors and outdoors.

The renovation features a new open plan kitchen, creation of 3 new double bay louvre windows in the living area as well as installation of new bi-fold doors onto balcony, significantly increasing light, airflow, and tropical garden views.

The project involved a complete demolition of the original kitchen, removal of a wall and false ceiling to enable the new open plan design. The kitchen supply and install was by Luke from Custom Cabinets Design. The kitchen is the heart of the home featururing a beautiful curved kitchen bench, bar step, new louvre kitchen windows as well as a cantilever window opening out onto the deck.

A clever utilisation of space was to divide the second bedroom to create a new study which opens into the living area using re-purposed glass doors. An existing bathroom was given a new lease on life simply by installation of full wall of louvres increasing light and garden views. 

New tiles, paint, lighting, and fans throughout and exterior render really complete this renovation. The exposed beams, copper pendant lighting, textured timber look cabinetry, and a stunning handmade Italian tile splash back, have created a beautiful, homely and unique space to be enjoyed. 

This is the second renovation we've had the pleasure of using Forrest Building Co for...... Jack's professionalism shone in this time: his skill in managing his staff and sub-contractors to meet our desired outcomes within tight time frames was incredible! We were able to navigate through unexpected changes with calm and ease...... From what was a dark and dilapidated living quarters, we now have a beautiful and cool space which merges effortlessly with the tropical atmosphere of the gardens and breezes around us.... I have recommended Forrest Building to many friends in the past year and I hear only good things! In fact, I watch as those friends now go back again and again as we have, to rely on this great, local service.
