Junior Project Manager

We're seeking a motivated Junior Project Manager to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to advance their career in project management whilst maintaining hands-on involvement in diverse building projects.

What You'll Do

You'll play a pivotal role in cost estimation, schedule compilation, and project oversight, working directly with our Director to deliver projects on time and within budget. This position offers significant growth potential and exposure to all aspects of construction project management.

Project Management & Client Relations

  • Manage client enquiries and assist with project lead shortlisting
  • Convert lead proposals to live projects and maintain project pipeline
  • Monitor project expenditure against budgets and timeframes
  • Liaise with clients and government agencies regarding project approvals
  • Prepare comprehensive project reports for clients

Estimation & Procurement

  • Manage request for quote processes with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare accurate quotes and estimates using industry software
  • Award quotes and prepare purchase orders
  • Source new business opportunities

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all permits and approvals are in place
  • Manage building permits and schedule engineer inspections
  • Complete documentation per tender and client requirements
  • Maintain OH&S compliance across all projects

Team Leadership

  • Recruit and induct site staff as required
  • Lead Monday Toolbox Meetings and Friday Leading Hand meetings
  • Address staff performance issues professionally
  • Conduct individual and project performance reviews

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive building and construction industry experience
  • Project and contract management experience with proven ability to deliver on time and budget
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities
  • Experience in quote and estimate preparation
  • Proficiency with estimating and scheduling software
  • Current Construction OH&S Card (White Card)
  • Solid understanding of OH&S systems and requirements
  • Ability to work independently whilst following direction
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation

Preferred:

  • Formal project management qualification (Cert IV/Diploma level)
