Carpenter - Leading Hand

We're seeking an experienced Carpenter - Leading Hand to join our dynamic construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified tradesperson to combine their craft expertise with leadership responsibilities while working on diverse construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.

What You'll Do

Lead & Supervise:

  • Oversee site-based employees and guide subcontractors
  • Facilitate daily pre-start meetings and communicate daily activities to team
  • Manage subcontractor and team workmanship quality
  • Address quality issues immediately and insist on reworks where necessary
  • Document and address unsatisfactory performance/attitude issues

Hands-On Construction:

  • Execute construction, maintenance, alterations, repair and renovation works
  • Interpret job and project plans/specifications/material take-offs
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and personal presentation

Project Management:

  • Communicate daily with clients and arrange meetings to resolve queries
  • Enter personal hours to BuilderTrend at end of each day
  • Review other team members' timesheets to ensure alignment
  • Generate daily material/tools lists for BuilderTrend "to dos" prior to 7am
  • Document progress with regular photography and upload to BuilderTrend

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant carpentry qualifications and experience
  • Experience in similar work environment and position
  • Strong leadership and team management ability
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely while unsupervised
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with clients in a positive, courteous manner
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality regulations
  • Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
  • Current NT driver's licence
  • Punctual and reliable approach to work hours
  • Ability to provide suitable transport

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and willingness to work in remote locations
  • Previous supervisory experience
